Molasses, treacle, honeysuckle, orange marmalade, golden raisins, lemon zest, pastry dough, vanilla, oak spice, some walnuts and peanut brittle.
Molasses and oak spice dominate on entry, which then give way to vanilla, light caramel, butterscotch, citrus zest, orange marmalade and peanuts.
Long, dry and hot finish with molasses, caramel, oak spice, orange marmalade and cinnamon flavours remaining in the mouth long after a sip.
Dead Reckoning Rum is a pioneering and consistently well reviewed Australian IB, founded and owned by Justin Boseley, one of Australia’s leading importers and distributors of premium rums and spirits. Dead Reckoning sources fine rums from both Australia and around the world, to age, blend and finish in oak casks previously used by global and Australian distilleries for maturing wines and spirits.
Dead Reckoning Rum has pioneered ageing rums in a specific warehouse in South Australia where the natural evaporation of the rums in the casks – known as ‘Angels Share’ – results in the Alcohol-by-Volume (ABV) of the remaining rum increasing over time, rather than decreasing (like it normally does worldwide). Justin has termed this as ‘Australian Dry Ageing’. (This ‘Australian Dry Ageing’ was not applied to this rum, as it was in North Queensland and not South Australia for its 4 years of Australian ageing).
Rum enthusiasts the world over are looking forward to Dead Reckoning’s future bottlings that will bring incredible Australian Dry Aged rums to our glasses, noses and palates!
