Molasses-based single retort pot still rum (not for everyone)
Distilled in a single-retort pot still, this molasses-based rum compares favourably to the famous and familiar funky rums from Jamaica that originally innovated the use of muck and dunder in their rum production. Described variously as audacious, pioneering and innovative, this rum and the spirit of its bottler Justin Boseley seem to have fused into one.

Killik Handcrafted Rum
On first sniff, there’s a real creamy note – almost like a caramel milkshake that’s gone warm. Almost immediately this changes to overripe fruit for a moment, but then an underlying bubblegum note makes its presence [from DeadReckoningUSA.com].
The palate is an incredibly complex whirlwind of flavours. The milky-bubblegum comes charging through, but is then cut in half by an almost fruit-tingle mouthfeel (almost like there’s some bicarb soda in there) [from DeadReckoningUSA.com].
A deep rooty sweetness – almost sarsaparilla – quality about it. There’s a peppery sensation that coasts the mouth as the flavour fades [from DRR USA website]
An extraordinary and unique base spirit for a variety of Pacific-themed tiki cocktails, this unaged white rum is bound to be one of your most-talked about cocktail rums on your shelf!
Born in regional Victoria state, Killik Handcrafted Rum is a distillery that’s rapidly gaining favour with Australian and global rum drinkers looking for something ‘a bit different’. Killik are one of the growing (but still small) number of Australian distilleries that are exploring using muck and dunder in their rum production and distillation process. This unaged Dead Reckoning Australia Killik high-ester unaged rum truly has a unique nose, palate and finish, for which we encourage you to read the tasting notes below.
